Goa: Fusion of tradition and contemporaneity
The emerald landscapes whispering the tales of the bygone era, the plush beaches and the historical splendor of Goa has etched a mark in the travel industry. Yes, Goa is that emerald place where you will witness that sheer blend of traditional and modern aspects of life. The cascading waterfalls, the wild forests, the fascinating spice farms, all are unique in their own way and are a must visit on your tour to Goa.
History of Goa:
It was in the 3rd Century Goa was a part of the Mauryan Empire. Later on Goa was ruled by the Satavahanas of Kolhapur. Then it was passed to the Chalukyas of Badami. They ruled Goa between 580- 750. n 1312, Goa came under the governance of the Delhi Sultanate. However, the kingdom's grip on the region was weak, and by 1370 they were forced to surrender it to Harihara I of the Vijayanagara Empire. In 1510, the Portuguese defeated the ruling Bijapur kings with the help of a local ally, Timayya leading to the establishment of a permanent settlement in Velha Goa (or Old Goa). After India gained independence from the British in 1947, Portugal refused to negotiate with India on the transfer of sovereignty of their Indian enclaves. Today, Goa stands as an incredible tourist destination.
